Garden Presentations:

Invite Susan Nock to speak to your garden organization. She regularly provides presentations and demonstrations about a variety of topics, from container gardens to garden design. Below is a sample of her current topics (don’t see what you are looking for? ask!). She has been a featured speaker at the 2024 New England Flower Show, the Cape Cod Landscape Association, and Digging In Association, the national association of container gardeners.   • Container Gardening for Every Season.  A comprehensive overview of the why’s and how’s of container gardening for each season. This talk can end with a seasonal container garden demonstration.

  • Container Gardens that Make Your Home Shine.  A presentation aimed at helping the audience gain an in-depth understanding of how to choose the best size and style container for a specific location and then successfully plant it to complement their home and garden. This talk can end with a planting demonstration.  

  • Seasonal Container Gardening for Stunning Results.  A season-specific container garden presentation that dives into all of the beautiful plants that can be used in containers for the chosen season - from the typical to the unusual. This talk ends with a planting demonstration.  

  • Windowbox 101.  Windowboxes can be the ideal accessory to any house, garage or shed but how to choose them, plant them and care for them? This presentation covers all of these subjects and more. Learn the formulas needed to pick the correct size windowbox depending on its location, favorite plants and everything in between. Care and maintenance tips will also be discussed. This talk ends with a demonstration of a seasonal windowbox planting. 

  • Foliage Favorites. This presentation highlights the wonderful world of foliage plants in container garden design. Why is foliage critical to show stopping containers? How to best use it in your planters? Do you even need flowers? All this will be covered and more! This talk can end with a planting demonstration.

  • Winter Container Gardens for the Holidays and Beyond.  Winter can feel like our longest season here in New England so this talk centers on how to create beautiful containers for your home for the winter/holiday season.  This talk can end with a demonstration.  

  • Succulent Containers for Inside and Out. - This talk covers the wonderful world of succulents, how to utilize them in container gardens here in New England, and how to care for them.  This talk ends with a demonstration.

  • Holiday Wreaths from Traditional to Wow.  Wreaths are the perfect winter/holiday decor for every home. This talk covers holiday wreaths from more contemporary grapevine wreaths to traditional American evergreen wreaths to the very British holiday wreaths which contain a multitude of ingredients including flowers. The main portion of the presentation is a demonstration. 

  • A Wreath for Every Season.  Wreaths are a universal symbol of welcome. This talk covers why and where to use wreaths, the wide range of forms available and all of the creative materials available from dried flowers to living plants.  It also includes a slideshow that highlights wreaths for each season and a demonstration of how to make a seasonal wreath.  

  • Paperwhites, Amaryllis and Hellebores - the Winter Flower Stars. Learn about the history of these stunning plants, how to care for them, and smart solutions for floppy blubs from the right containers, support and a stiff drink. This presentation also take a deep dive into creative ways to incorporate them into your holiday arrangements. This talk ends with a demonstration.
